RIALTO THEATER OF WESTFIELD OFFERS LIVE
NIGHT OF NEW YORK COMEDY
Digiplex New York Comedy Series, Tues., June 28, 2011, 9:30 p.m.
Movie Theaters Are Not Just for Movies Any Longer
WESTFIELD, N.J. (June 15, 2011) – There’s something new coming to a movie theater near you and it has nothing to do with movies. The Rialto Theater of Westfield is planning the second in a series of live Digiplex New York Comedy performances, Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. and tickets for $20 can be purchased at the box office or online at www.digiplexdest.com. The address is 250 East Broad Street, Westfield, N.J.
The Comedy Series will continue July 25, Aug. 23, and Sept. 22. Check the website for performers and show times. Advance tickets are available to all shows.
The 90-min. live performance features three stand-up comedians from the hottest comedy clubs in Manhattan:
• Rodney Laney – Born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey, Laney has completed pilots for Comedy Central, MTV, A&E and has been seen on HBO, Fox News Channel's "Red Eye," "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," Comedy Central's "Premium Blend," and in London on the BBC's "The World Stand's Up."
• Tina Giorgi – A crowd-pleasing intelligent comedienne, reviewers refer to Giorgi’s performances as “comedy with a brain.” She is a favorite act in major clubs across the country and a constant performer in New York City and Las Vegas. She has been featured on CBS’s “Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn,” Fox’s “Comics Unleashed,” Comedy Central’s “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn,” NBC’s “Friday Night,” the Metro Channel’s “New Joke City” with Robert Klein, and Channel 9’s “Spotlight Café.”
• Russ Meneve – The Hawthorne, N.J., native has been performing comedy in and around New York for almost a decade where he has honed his skills to an edge as sharp as his material. He made his debut on the NBC’s “Tonight Show” where he won rave reviews from host Jay Leno. Meneve has also appeared on NBC’s “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “Last Call with Carson Daly,” and “Last Comic Standing.”
The Rialto Theater of Westfield, along with sister theaters in Cranford, N.J., and Bloomfield, Conn., are the first three Digiplex Destinations theaters in the nation. They are the foundation of a chain of all-digital theaters that digital theater pioneer and entrepreneur A. Dale “Bud” Mayo is building across the U.S. with his team at Digital Cinema Destinations Corp., located above the Rialto Theater of Westfield.
In addition to the best Hollywood and Indie movies, including 3-D, Digiplex theaters offer a full range of alternative programming such as pop concerts, live sports events, symphonies, operas, and children’s series. An encore performance of “Swan Lake” is planned for the Digiplex Cranford Theater on June 22 and 26, 2011, to kick off the Bolshoi Ballet Series.
