NO AIRFARE REQUIRED
Digiplex Theaters in Westfield and Cranford, N.J., and Bloomfield, Conn.
Feature Landmark Theatrical Event This October
WESTFIELD, N.J. (Sept. 19, 2011) – A new movie theater chain in northern New Jersey and Connecticut invites fans of a different kind of theater to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera, live from London's Royal Albert Hall. The lavish, fully staged musical concert tribute will be shown at the Digiplex Rialto in Westfield, N.J., and the Digiplex Bloomfield 8 Theater at the Wintonbury Mall in Bloomfield, Conn., Sunday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18 and can be purchased on-line at www.digiplexdest.com, or at the box office.
The live feature will be followed by encore showings at the Digiplex Rialto Westfield, and Digiplex Bloomfield 8 theater Wednesday, Oct. 5, and at Digiplex Cranford (N.J.) and Digiplex Bloomfield 8, Thursday, Oct. 6 and Tuesday, Oct. 11. All showtimes are 7:30 p.m.
Over 200 cast members, orchestra members and luminaries involved with Phantom over the past 25 years will make special guest appearances or performances, including Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sarah Brightman, Michael Crawford, and the original four Phantoms.
Additionally, Ramin Karimloo will star as “The Phantom” and Sierra Boggess as “Christine.” Joining the leads will be Barry James as “Monsieur Firmin,” Gareth Snook as “Monsieur André,” Liz Robertson as “Madame Giry” and Wynne Evans as “Piangi.”
Phantom of the Opera is Broadway's longest running show and among the most successful entertainment productions of any kind, grossing double the amount of the movie Titanic.
“Theater-lovers will think they were center row orchestra, thanks to a new digital projection system and satellite dish that brings the sights and sounds of this classic to local theaters,” said Digiplex digital theater pioneer and entrepreneur A. Dale “Bud” Mayo. “It’s all there to enjoy, except maybe for the chandelier dropping on your head. We haven’t figured out how to do that digitally just yet.”
The Digiplex Cranford Theater is located at 25 North Avenue, Cranford; the Digiplex Rialto Westfield is at 250 East Broad Street. The Digiplex Bloomfield 8 Theater is located at 863 Park Avenue (Wintonbury Mall), Bloomfield, Conn.
